J.G.T. Theatre was founded from the occasion of 5th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising on 28th August 1949, its original name was the Middle-Slovak Theatre. This theatre was formed by distinctive personalities and nonrecurring good-quality talents who gave it the hight artistic level during decades. Such people were: A.Noskovic, the learner of the spectacular dramatist and experimenter E.F.Burian, further were: Maria Markovicova, great actress excellent with her dramatic characters, Karol Badani, Zorka Paulendova, Angelika Jakubisova, the excellent comedy actress lored by Zvolen's audience, Valeria Caplova-Paulovicova, Magda Matrtajova, Andrej Mojzis. Later on, the first graduates of Artistic Universities were joined to them: Juraj Sarvas, Zlatica Gillova, Ivan Macho, Klara Dubovicova and the directors: Igor Ciel, V. Petruska, F. Rell, M. Holly, M. Pauliny-Tothova, M. Lokvencova-Husakova, I. Lichard, O. Haas, M. Pietor, I. Petrovicky and others. Actually, who formed the theatre into its modern body the dramaturgist Julius Treger became. He focused mainly to the original Slovak creation. Many plays had their first run right here. Those ones were by J. Solovic, O. Zahradnik, S. Sokol, E. Strico, M. Kocan, J. Kakos, L. Filan, J. Vah, also L. Lahola, P. Kovacova, B. Cahojova or L. Feldek.
